Four beautiful girls sat crying in the waiting room. One of OCD’s teachers came out of Massie’s hospital room with a blank face. Mr. Norris sat down across from Alicia, Dylan, Kristen and Claire, and picked up a magazine off of the coffee table.
“Well?! Is she okay?!” The Pretty Committee screamed at Mr. Norris, tears rushing down their faces.
“The doctor doesn’t quite know yet. She will live, of course.” He flipped the page.
“Thank gawd.” The girls let out a sigh.
“She might have to stay here for a few nights.” Mr. Norris added.
“Where is my baby? Is she okay?” Mr. and Mrs. Block came barging through the doors.
“You must be the parents. Hello, I’m Massie’s English teacher. I was passing through when the incident happened. Everything is sure to be okay.” Mr. Norris got up and shook their hands.
“Thank you so much.” Kendra Block blotted under her eyes with a tissue and gave each of the girls a warm hug.
“Are you sure it was a peanut allergy sort of thing?” Kristen asked concerned.
“Yes, it was.” The doctor suddenly emerged from Massie’s room. He shut the door and shook everyone’s hands. After Kendra and William Block introduced themselves, he gave them his clipboard to sign some papers.
“Ehmagawd this is all my fault!” Kristen burst out in tears and put her head in her hands.
“No it’s not, Kris! You had no idea.” Alicia rubbed Kristen’s back to give her comfort.
“That’s odd,” Claire began, “The chefs are usually really good about informing TPC if there are any peanuts in a meal. They’ve known about Massie’s deadly allergy for ages.”
“Point.” Dylan stuck up her index finger and nodded.
“That’s the funny thing. There was no peanuts in the salad. One of the nurses called the school. They are 100% sure it’s peanut free.” Mr. Norris exclaimed.
“Ehmagawd. Someone is out to hurt Massie.” Dylan said quietly.
“Or all of us…” Claire softly added.
“The physic was right. We’re all in danger.” Alicia said.
