Alicia Rivera’s heels clicked as walked. In her left hand was her new black iPhone5, and in her right hand was Josh. He squeezed her small dainty hand and smiled. She giggled and held it tighter. Alicia and Josh were headed for the Rivera’s 20th wedding anniversary.

“You look beautiful.” Josh complimented her.

“Thank you. You look handsome as well.” Alicia blushed then stopped to straighten out his tie.

“So who am I meeting tonight?” Josh asked.

“Well, you’ve already met my parents so you’ll be meeting everyone else. My cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles. Everyone.”

“Oh, okay.” His voice trailed off.

“Don’t be nervous. You’ll do great.” Alicia leaned over and kissed him on the cheek.

Alicia and Josh were greeted by two men in uniforms who opened up the large glass doors for them. They thanked them and headed into the building. . They began to walk through the lobby which was filled with red leather couches and large wooden coffee tables. The counter tops were marble and had an array of mints and candy. A large gold chandelier hung above them  giving the room the perfect ambiance. When they reached the main ballroom, they scanned the room for anyone they knew.

“You know it’s kind of funny. You think by now I’d know all of my family members but I still don’t. I hate having a big family.” Alicia sighed and pulled Josh towards a large table of snacks.

“Lobster rolls, madam?” A waiter in a black suit and tie shoved a tray into Alicia’s face.

“No thanks.” Alicia said politely.

“Are you sure? They’re delicious!” The waiter kissed his finger tips and threw his hand into the air.

“Um, excuse me? Are you a pair of boobs?” Alicia asked.

“Um, no?” He looked around to see if she was talking to someone else.

“Then stop trying to hang around me.” Alicia flipped her hair and walked away.

“I can’t believe you just did that!” Josh burst out laughing.

“Me either. I haven’t said that in months.” Alicia smirked.

“Is that Massie, Dylan, Kristen and Claire?” Josh squinted into the distance.

“Ehmagawd! No way!” Alicia squealed and ran over to The Pretty Committee.

“Heyyyy Leesh!”  TPC yelled and gave Alicia a warm hug.

“Hey! What are you guys doing here?!” Alicia asked.

“Your mom invited us. Duh!” Claire clapped.

“It’s so nice in here.” Kristen looked around.

“So many cute outfits!” Massie said.

“And food!” Dylan said while munching on a lobster roll.

“I’m glad you guys are having fun.” Alicia smiled.

“Wow I never realized you could run that fast.” Josh walked over and said out of breath.

All of a sudden they heard a loud crash, people screaming, and dishes breaking. The room was instantly filled with chaos. Alicia’s heart started to beat fast. Her face got red and she felt numb.

“Josh…I…I… don’t feel well.” Alicia toppled over into Josh’s arms. The Pretty Committee screamed. The room was hot, busy, and loud. Everyone began to panic.

“What’s going on?!” Massie yelled.

“I have a feeling we should get out of here.” Dylan screamed over the noise.

“There’s a fire in the kitchen and a gas leak! Everyone out!” A waitress ran over and pushed them out an emergency exit. Josh carried Alicia and began to panic.

“Help! I don’t think she’s breathing!” He screamed.

  1. The party seemed to be going well, until the chaos with the gas leak. I hope your panic attack wasn’t too bad, and that you’re feeling better now!
